Unfathomable and horrific to watch, devotees at a shrine at Solapur in western India’s Maharastra observe a bizarre ritual of throwing infants for good health from a height of 50 feet on to a cloth sheet held below. What is wrong with people?

  5. In what is likely a centuries old custom, it is improbable that they’ve never had ANY accidental deaths or injuries to the babies.

    I definitely wouldn’t call it “harmless”.
